Two river swans fly
White arrows piercing grey skies
This way to the lake

Unexpectedly In Margate

Two green parakeets

Play kiss-me-quick through the streets
Raucous seaside fun

Up on the streetlights

All in a row gathering

Millpond reflections
Of the swans, cygnets now grown
Into grey shadows

Seagulls

Sky turned to pink shells

Sunset and seagulls fly home

Calling the sea tides

Shoreline waders wait

Feathers ruffled by tide winds

As their boat comes in

Overhead he cries

A quavering note of despair

Late, last and alone

While parents swan by

Swallows above the green wheat fields

Keen steel blue wings slice
Paper-cut  thro' the green wheat

With his Sergeant stripes

In cold mottled coat

Deep in leaf litter
Diligent little wren seeks
The green stir of spring
